Lead Pastor Position Available

Seed Community Church is a small locally grown church in Swan Hill, Victoria. Swan Hill is set on the banks of the Murray River and has a relaxed country lifestyle. It has a population of around 10,000 people which is supported by its many diverse agricultural industries in the area.

At Seed Community Church we have a multicultural congregation of around 35 to 40 people including children. As a small church at this stage we are very family focused and keen to see people grow and mature in Christ and to take the message of Jesus out further to the people of the Mallee. We are currently a member of the FIEC network.

Seed Community Church is looking to employ a full time (or part time dependent on available funding) Lead Pastor to take our church to the next level of its growth. The position is to commence February 2021 however this is flexible if the right applicant is only available to start at a later date.

Full time remuneration will initially depend on the candidate’s ability to raise some support for Seed Community Church to complete their salary. The goal is that over 1 to 4 years the position will be fully self-funded within the church due to numerical and financial growth.

Lead Pastor Position Description

Main Responsibilities

  • Oversight of all Church ministries
  • Chairing the committee and leading alongside of Overseers and ministry workers to set the vision, strategy and goals for growing our church community numerically and in maturity
  • Oversight of the legal responsibilities of the church
  • Preaching mostly on weekly basis
  • Identify, recruit and train lay leaders

Key Activities

1. As Leader and Manager

  • Work closely with Seed’s leadership team to build a culture of lay team ministry
  • Work with all the overseers and ministry teams to establish unity around theological convictions
  • Lead, develop and inspire a growing team of lay leaders
  • Work alongside Safe Church Team to ensure policies and procedures are in place for Safety Requirements

2. As Teacher and Trainer

  • Preaching at most Sunday church gatherings
  • Training and teaching others to preach
  • Develop, implement and present various training / outreach programs
  • Equip ministry team leaders to grow their teams

3. As Recruiter

  • Identify and nurture new leaders and ministry opportunities.
  • Empower leaders to recruit and nurture new leaders.

Personal Qualities

  • Godly character, love for Jesus and desire to make and grow disciples are key requirements for this position.
  • Experience or skill in church ministry and oversight.
  • Formal theological education (or on a pathway) is desirable.
  • A commitment to Reformed Evangelical Theology
  • Demonstrated ability to manage people
  • Demonstrated ability to lead leaders.
  • Has initiative / is a self - starter
  • Team Player
  • High Level Communication
  • Ability to teach
  • Demonstrated hospitality

Other responsibilities may include: leading home bible study groups, one to one ministry, hospitality etc. The other activities will be determined by the areas of giftedness of the successful applicant.

At Seed Community Church we are a small congregation. As a small church we are very family focused and keen to see people grow and mature in Christ and to take the message of Jesus to the community. We are currently an Associate Member of the FIEC network.

Seed Community Church is looking to employ a part time Pastor to grow our church in maturity and faithfulness. Remuneration will initially depend on the candidate’s ability to raise some support for Seed Community Church to complete their salary. The goal is that over 1 to 4 years the position will be fully self-funded within the church due to numerical and with it, financial growth.
